Welcome to Troop 800's Web Site!

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 800's web site. Troop 800 is a boy-led troop chartered by Greenbrier Presbyterian Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. We meet on Wednesday nights (7:15-8:45 p.m.) year-round. We camp one weekend per month and usually also have a monthly "out-of-troop activity" (sometimes on a weekend and sometimes instead of a troop meeting.)

Prospective Scouts and Parents - Please visit the "About Us" page to learn more about our troop. Please contact scoutmaster(at)troop800(dot)org for more information and to arrange a visit to a troop meeting.

Current Scouts and Parents - Please log in!  You will be able to view our calendar, sign up for upcoming events, see photos of past events (and share your own), access helpful files and information, and contact Leaders and other Scout families. Check back often for the most up-to-date information. If you have forgotten your password, please send an email to webmaster(at)troop800(dot)org

Dues are Due! (Dec 1 or Nov 1 for EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT!)

Posted on Oct 11 2017 - 11:26am
The troop pays national re-chartering fees for every Scout and registered leaders in December. In the past, we have collected dues in January; however, we need to change that this year. Also, national dues have gone up, so we need to increase our dues as well. Here is what we're doing this year:

Read the article and track the information! Note that it says ONE out of every FIVE participants will be from the BSA (United States).  How to increase your chances of being selected, I suspect?  Be awesome! Advance! Take on active leadership roles! Build your Scout "resume"!  (Just FYI - Rachel Eddowes, highlighted in the article, is a Venturer from this area.) https://blog.scoutingmagazine.org/2017/08/01/how-to-participate-in-the-2019-world-scout-jamboree-at-the-summit-bechtel-reserve/

HOW to pay online...

Posted on Apr 23 2014 - 2:57pm

Did you know you can pay online for events using PayPal?  Here's how!

  1. You need to have a PayPal account. You can register by going to www.paypal.com and linking the account to either your bank account or a credit card.
  2. When you register for an event, you will see a red PLUS sign next to your Scout's name if online payment has been enabled.  You can also come back to this later by clicking on the event, then "attendee list".
  3. Click on the red plus sign. This puts the payment in your "cart".
  4. Click on the cart on the main page (under the login information).  This will take you directly to PayPal, where you can complete the payment.
  5. When you get a receipt in your email, please forward it to treasurer@troop800.org - this will ensure our troop treasurer is aware of your payment.  He will periodically update the website to reflect the payments (it does not happen automatically.)
  6. If at any time, you aren't sure whether a payment was received, please send an email to treasurer@troop800.org.

Paying online helps the troop!! Our treasurer does not have to attend every meeting just in case someone is going to pay for somethin, and your Scout doesn't have to track him down. It gives both you and the troop a good record of payment, and helps the troop leaders know where we stand on payment for events.  We are trying to make sure that all events are paid for BEFORE a Scout goes, and that we have received all payments before we have to send out a check for event registration.
